The challenge

Cheshire East Council wanted to expand its electric vehicle (EV) charging network, providing charge points for residents without off-street parking. The project was part of their strategy to support low-carbon transport, become carbon neutral by 2027 and contribute to borough-wide carbon reduction targets by 2045. To make it happen, they had funding from the On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme (ORCS) and the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) fund.

The role we played

Trust provided design coordination, secured connections and installed electric charging units at the project’s 12 locations. The biggest challenge was securing wayleaves and site agreements with the local authority, as well as coordinating connection points at each location. It was a complex task, but we collaborated closely with everyone involved, making sure design, permissions, approvals and delivery timelines aligned across multiple live sites. Our team ensured full regulatory compliance and made sure we met the client and local authority’s high standards.

The impact we made

We successfully installed the new EV infrastructure across each of the sites and we’re really proud of our team’s high-quality work, coordination and communication. The scheme has given local residents access to a public EV charging network, supporting the transition to electric vehicles and making a major contribution towards reducing carbon emissions across the community.

“With Trust, sustainability isn’t just a box to tick. They’re all about doing the right thing, the right way. And that kind of attitude makes them a great partner for us.”
